My Dad

This was my Dad’s answer when his former boss asked which was harder, fighting in the war or raising a family, He said family.

“When you fight a war, you don’t care about tomorrow. You only care about staying alive for the day.  If you have money at the end of the day, you spend it all.  If you have the ability to take time off from fighting and get drunk with your friends, you do it.  You don’t think about tomorrow because you could be dead today.  But, when you have a family, all you think about is the future.  You worry for your family’s health and safety and financial security.  If you have money, you save it.  If you can take time off work, you spend it with your family because you won’t always be able to do that.” - Phillip Cao (my dad)
